III. DELIVERY OF WOOD
Once the wood is selected, an excellent final floor depends on the proper delivery of wood. There are several things to keep in mind.
A.
Delivery of custom-milled, imported or
non-stock woods may take several weeks.
Allow for this in scheduling.
B.
If
wood gets wet it can
be seriously damaged, so do not allow delivery in damp weather, even if it
means a delay in scheduling.
C.
Use
a moisture meter to check wood at the time of delivery.
D.
It
helps if flooring can sit, loosely stacked, for 3 to 5 days in, or close to, the space in which
it is to be installed. This
allows the wood to "settle in", or acclimatize, to the environment.
